THE COLD WAR

ANALYSIS:

In January, 1954, the new US secretary of state, John Foster Dulles, had outlined a new American military policy. The United States, he warned, would meet communist aggression by 'MASSIVE RETALIATION' with nuclear weapons. The United States, Dulles said, would strikes back - "at places and with means of our own choosing." (p. 618c The World Book Encyclopedia Ci - Cz Volume 4)

Ngunit nagkaroon ng malaking pagbabago (the character of the cold war) noong mid-1960's porke ang demokratikong United States at komunistang Russia, na kapwa sila merong nakaimbak na nuclear weapons, kapwa sila meron ding antimissile defense system, realized that there would be NO VICTOR in all-out nuclear war.

US Secretary of State John Foster Dulles? - "MASSIVE RETALIATION WITH NUCLEAR WEAPONS" - at kung magka-gano'n nga'y totooong NO VICTOR IN ALL-OUT NUCLEAR WAR!!!
