ILAN ANG NAGING POPE
MULA KAY ST.PETER HANGGANG SA KASALUKUYAN NGAYONG SI POPE FRANCIS? SAGOT: 263
Hindi nagtutugma ang bilang ng mga historian hinggil sa
tamang numero ng mga naging pope. Batay sa aming research, si Pope Benedict IX
ay nahalal na pope noong 1032, ngunit siya ay tinanggal sa papacy at pinalitan
ni Sylvester III, isang antipope. Ibinalik din si Benedict IX sa papacy noong
1045 subalit muling inalis sa papacy at iniluklok si Gregory VI no’ng naturan
ding taon.
Sa ikatlong pagkakataon ay nakabalik sa papacy bilang pope
si Benedict IX taong-1047 at nanungkulan pa ng isang taon, na kung kaila’y
namatay na siya. Karaniwan ay tatlong
beses na binibilang ang pangalan ni Pope Benedict IX sa talaan ng mga
nahirang na pope magmula kay St.Peter hanggang sa kasalukuyan ngayong si Pope
Francis na pumalit bilang halal na pope noong March 2013 kapalit ng nag-resign
na si Pope Benedict XVI.
Ang umuuki-ukilkil ngayon sa aming isipan, halimbawang maunang

Edition 57 – 62, ang mga sumusunod na talaan ng mga pangalan ay masusi naming
hinimay mula sa pinagsama-samang pangalan ng popes at saka ng antipopes at
aming inihiwalay upang aming patunayan sa aming sarili, na tunay ngang 263 ang eksakto at tamang bilang
ng mga nagsilbing pope magmula kay St.Peter the Apostle noong A.D. 42 hanggang
sa kasalukuyang si Pope Francis, ngayong taong-2015.
Samantala, 36 naman ang kabuuang bilang ng mga antipopes sa
kasaysayan ng Papacy. Ipinasya naming hindi na naming sila papangalanan. Waring pinag-adya ng Diyos na ihiwalay ang
masasama sa mabubuti, at dahil dito, natukoy naming ang mga antipopes ay nagsilbing mga “hudas” sa
kasaysayan ng Papacy at wala isa man sa 36 nilang bilang ang naging santo.
